Probation
An initial period during which either side can end the arrangement on shorter notice.
A probation period gives both sides a way out if the fit is wrong, on terms set in the contract rather than improvised. Its length and the notice required are contract terms, not custom.
It cuts both ways, which is the part employers sometimes forget: she can leave on the same basis you can ask her to.
Why it matters
Use it honestly. If it is not working by week three, saying so is kinder and cheaper than waiting until month six and hoping it improves.
