What a helper does

Newborn care

Night feeds, winding, sterilising, and the settling routine that decides whether anybody in the house sleeps.

Newborn work is the least interchangeable thing on this register. A helper who is excellent with a four-year-old may have never held a two-week-old, and the gap shows at three in the morning rather than at interview.

So we ask about it specifically. Newborn experience on an Amanah profile means she has done it in a household, and that the previous employer we telephoned confirmed it — not that she ticked a box on a form.

What the work involves

  • Night feeds and settling, including expressed-milk preparation
  • Sterilising bottles and equipment to a stated routine
  • Nappy changes, bathing, and skin and cord care
  • Tracking feeds and sleep so a paediatrician has something to read
  • Keeping the nursery laundry and linen separate from the household wash

We are interviewing now. Every profile has to pass five checks before it appears here, and we would rather show you nothing than show you someone we have not met. Leave us your details and we will write to you the week it opens.
